‘People Cities and Low Carbon Living conference’ with Jan Gehl -February 13th 2017

Conference at Curtin University includes the launch of the new book People Cities: The Life and Legacy of Jan Gehl(by Annie Matan and Peter Newman, Island Press, Washington DC) which highlights Perth’s shift towards a people city. Officially launched by the Ambassador to Demark, Mr Tom Nørring.

Keynote speaker renowned Danish urban designer Jan Gehl will present “People Cities for the 21st Century”

Annie Matan will summarise Gehl’s life in urban design before Jan will speak about ‘People Cities for the 21st Century’. Peter Newman and his research team from CUSP will then outline some key findings from their work with the CRC in Low Carbon Living about how the people-oriented approach can lead to low carbon housing, precincts, transport and cities. Speakers will include: Jemma Green, Josh Byrne, Charlie Hargroves, Vanessa Rauland and Greg Morrison.

After lunch there will be a workshop with Professor Holger Walbaum from Climate KIC Europe, Professor of Sustainable Building from Chalmers University, on how low carbon innovations are being created through partnerships between researchers, government and the private sector in Europe and how Australia can forge their own contribution to world-changing innovations.

The Conference and Workshop are free but an RSVP is needed.
