UK’s Brown proposes 100 billion pounds investment to reduce dependence on oil

International Herald Tribune, 26 June 2008

Prime Minister Gordon Brown called Thursday for Britain to invest 100 billion pounds to reduce its dependence on oil and meet European Union targets for developing renewable energy sources. Brown proposed spreading that expenditure over 12 years as the government attempts to meet a European Union target of producing 15 percent of the country's energy from renewable sources by 2020.
